Manimahesh Lake (also known as Dal Lake, Manimahesh) is a high altitude lake (elevation 4,080 metres (13,390 ft)) situated close to the Manimahesh Kailash Peak in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, in the Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The religious significance of this lake is next to that of the Lake Manasarovar in Tibet. The lake is the venue of a highly revered pilgrimage trek undertaken during the month of August/September corresponding to the month of Bhadon according to Hindu calendar, on the eighth day of the New Moon period. It is known as the �Manimahesh Yatra�. The Government of Himachal Pradesh has declared it as a state-level pilgrimage .A sacred place also named as abode of God Shiva Manimahesh that is situated in North west of Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba District is a spectacular divine place of Hindus. Since centuries the place is holding the importance as abode & meditation spot of God Shiva & Goddess Parvati . In between wide range of plain mountains Manimahesh lake presents its own Charismatic view just lying beneath great Mount Kailash .
Enchanting pilgrims with the loud & divine sound of Aum treks to the holy shrine of Kailash Manimahesh every year in the month of Aug Sept , when the holy bath (Chota Snan) Starts on the occasion of Shree Krishana Janam Ashtami . The devotees during the pilgrimage to the Manimahesh Lake, located at an altitude of 13,500 feet in Chamba district, will be allowed only after registration with the local civic authorities. This year the pilgrimage will start Aug 28, on the eve of Janmashtami festival dedicated to Lord Krishna’s birth, and will conclude Radhashtami (the birth of Lord Krishna’s consort Radha) Sep 13. Registration for Manimahesh Yatra would be done at Kalsuine or Hadsar heading towards sacred shrine.
Day 1 Arrival at Bharmour(2160 mtrs)and , rest at leisure and after meals trek to Bharmani Mata temple and back to Bharmour it is aprroximatly 4 km hike to ridge near Bharmour town with the panoramic landscape of mountain. Locals and legends says that Bharmour is named after Bharmani Devi. While crossing through a desnsed village named Malkauta one can have a great close look at apple orchards. Pilgrims can have holy dip in the sacred pool at Bharmani Devi pool but the water is really very cold here. After at ease move back to Bharmour.
Day 2 : Bharmour to Dhan Chho(2540 mtrs) ,after an early breakfast we will travel to the last motorable road to Hadsar(2275 mtrs) , its about 13kms from Bharmour.Also the starting point of Manimahesh trek. The trek to Shree Kailash Mani Mahesh is a mix of gradual steep ascend ona rocky trail which follows the Budhal Nullah enroute. Overnight in camp a Dhan Chho.
Day 3: Dhancho to Manimaheshand(3950 mtrs) back , After day halt of the first day of sacred trek , we will hike further to Gauri Kund (Lake of Goddess Parvati )via the normal route you can also view enchanting view of Parvati Ka Baug which is easier of all. There is also another steepy trail via Bandar Ghati , which is scary one at some spots and we never refer anyone to follow that one. Ladies usuaaly take bath here in Parvati Kund or Gauri Kund and then move further to Sacred lake Manimahesh and back to our camp at Dhan Chho.
Day 4: Dhan Chho to Bharmour, the last day of the trek is not that easier as its a all descend and makes muscles much stiff to descned down , walk slow and reach the motorable road at Hadsar and then drive to Bharmour hotel.
